1. Refund Policy
- All registration fees are non-refundable within seven (7) working days before the scheduled challenge or competition date.
- Refund requests made earlier than seven (7) working days before the event will be processed, but a £2 administration fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
- No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within seven (7) working days of the event, or for participants who fail to attend on the competition day.
- Refunds will only be made to the original payment method used for registration.
- Participation fees cover entry to the challenge or competition itself, not performance or results. Refunds cannot be requested due to dissatisfaction with scores, rankings, or outcomes.
- All competition materials are prepared and reviewed with care. However, errors or inaccuracies may occur for various reasons. Such occurrences do not invalidate the competition or constitute grounds for a refund, provided they do not materially affect the overall fairness or outcome of the event.
2. Event Changes or Cancellations
- In the unlikely event that The Archimedes Awards has to cancel or reschedule a challenge or competition, all registered participants will be notified promptly.
- Participants will be offered the choice of either:
- transferring their registration to a new date, or
- receiving a full refund (without any deduction).
3. Exceptional Circumstances
- Refund requests based on medical emergencies or other exceptional circumstances will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, at the sole discretion of The Archimedes Awards.
- In such cases, supporting evidence (such as a medical certificate or other relevant documentation) may be requested before a refund is considered.
4. Participant Responsibility
- It is the responsibility of the participant, parent, or guardian to ensure that all registration details and email addresses provided are correct.
- The Archimedes Awards will not be held responsible for missed notifications or results caused by incorrect or incomplete contact information.
- Failure to take part in the Challenge or Competition on the scheduled date and time - for any reason, including but not limited to schedule conflicts, technical difficulties, illness without supporting evidence, or failure to access the competition link - will not constitute grounds for refund, rescheduling, or alternative sittings.
- The Archimedes Awards may, at its sole discretion, offer limited flexibility in exceptional circumstances; however, this is not guaranteed and cannot be requested retrospectively once the challenge window has closed.
5. Technical Issues
- The Archimedes Awards cannot accept responsibility for technical problems (e.g. internet, device, or browser issues) experienced by participants during online challenges.
- Refunds or resits will not be offered for issues arising from the participant’s own internet connection, device, or technical setup. All participants are advised to test their access and connectivity in advance using the same equipment intended for the competition.
6. Results, Marking, and Confidentiality
- After each challenge or competition, the registered school will receive the electronic certificates (E-Certificates) of its participating students, showing the grading or award category achieved (for example, Distinction, Merit, or Pass).
- Individual numerical scores will not be released.
- The Archimedes Awards does not release competition papers, questions, or answer keys to participants, schools, or parents.
- This policy preserves the integrity and confidentiality of the competition content for future use.
- No individual feedback, detailed marking breakdown, or model answers will be provided beyond the grading shown on the E-Certificates.
- All competition materials remain the intellectual property of The Archimedes Awards and may not be reproduced, shared, or distributed.
7. Changes to Rules or Schedule
- The Archimedes Awards reserves the right to amend competition rules, structure, or schedule when necessary.
- Any such changes will be communicated to registered participants in advance where possible.
8. Limitation of Liability
- The Archimedes Awards shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, or consequential lost or damage arising from participation in the competition, including but not limited to loss of data, prizes or reputation. The Archimedes Awards' total liability shall not exceed the amount of the entry fee paid by the participant.
Agreement
By completing the registration and payment process, participants and/or their parent or guardian acknowledge and accept these terms and conditions, including the refund policy, confidentiality rules, and result limitations stated above.
