A Landmark National First for Mathematics within The Duke of Edinburgh's Awards
The Archimedes Awards is proud to announce a landmark national first: we are the UK’s first and only mathematics-focused DofE Approved Activity Provider for Skills.
For the first time in the DofE’s 70-year history, a specialist mathematics organisation has been approved to deliver a dedicated programme for its Skills section. Through our purpose-built DofE Bronze Mathematics Skills Pathway, mathematics stands in its own right — not as a supporting subject, but as a rigorous, standalone and lifelong skill.
The pathway creates a new national opportunity for young people, particularly those aspiring towards STEM, to turn sustained mathematical thinking into an achievement that counts towards their Bronze DofE—while developing confidence, independence and intellectual resilience. In response to growing interest from students, families and schools, we have extended the same rigorous enrichment model beyond DofE through our independent Archimedes Mathematics Skills Programme, available worldwide to students in Year 7 and above without requiring participation in DofE.

Distinguished Partnerships. Exceptional Opportunities.
That same commitment to widening opportunity shapes our work with leading UK universities, specialist institutions and STEM partners, extending the impact of our UK Schools National Challenge far beyond the competition itself.
Through our collaboration with Surrey Maths School, participating students will have access to free, bespoke mathematics workshops designed to stretch their thinking, build confidence and inspire a lasting passion for mathematics.
